How do you qualify for our housing program?
Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity partners with hardworking families to build safe, affordable homes right here in Southern Oregon. Through volunteer labor, community donations, and affordable mortgage payments, we help families achieve stability and build a foundation for their future.
What are the criteria to apply for a Habitat home?
Need for Adequate Shelter

Your home has physical problems such as faulty plumbing, electrical issues, unsafe water, or inadequate heating.

Your household is overcrowded.

You spend 50% or more of your income on rent.

You are experiencing any other housing conditions that make it difficult or unsafe to live in your home.
Ability to Pay/Income Guidelines

You can make monthly mortgage payments between $600 and $950 over a 30-year period.

Your total gross monthly income falls between 40% and 80% of the Federal Median Income for Jackson County, based on family size.

You have been discharged from bankruptcy for at least two years before starting the application process.

You have no outstanding liens, judgments, or collections totaling more than $1,000.
Willingness to Partner

You and each adult family member living in the home must complete a minimum of 200 hours of sweat equity helping build your home, with a total of 500 hours required. Friends and family can donate additional hours on your behalf.

You must be willing to actively participate in local Habitat for Humanity campaigns and fundraising efforts.

You must have been a Jackson County resident for at least one year.

All income providers in the household must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents.

You must not have owned a home in the past three years.
