| Our Mission Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity is a Christian based, volunteer, non- profit housing ministry making home ownership possible by drawing together people of all faiths and backgrounds to build affordable homes in partnership with those in need. |
Quick Facts
- 41 homes and 1 rehab home have been completed in Jackson County, providing housing for 219 family members, of whom 144 are children.
- 55 homes have been built internationally, through tithing.
- 8-12 Board members, many of whom have unique skills and career backgrounds, currently govern HfH Rogue Valley.
- 6 full-time and 3 part-time staff are employed locally.
- 7 Committees that help steer the affiliate.
- For every 7 hours of administration work allows 1 hour of construction of a Habitat house.
- Over 800 active volunteers participate each year including 36 groups.
- Habitat builds simple, decent, affordable homes. The average size of a Habitat house is between 900 and 1200 square feet.
- Our selected partner families have a 30 year no interest mortgage.
- Average cost of a Habitat home is $60,000-$90,000, including building permits & land.

Is there is housing problem in Jackson County?
In 2008, 40% of Jackson County residents could not afford to rent a single bedroom unit, and 51% could not afford a two bedroom unit. These statistics are higher than Oregon state averages. 47% of Jackson County residents have low or moderate incomes and 22% have very low incomes, which is Habitat for Humanity/Rogue Valley's target group. 22% of children under the age of 18 in Jackson County are living in poverty. Rogue Valley families who live in substandard housing have to make tough decisions every day. Rent can consume as much as 70% of monthly income, forcing families to choose between food, medications, clothes or other basic necessities. The thought of even the smallest luxuries that the rest of us often take for granted becomes just a dream for others.
