Habitat for Humanity/Rogue Valley serves those who live in substandard housing AND who are low-income. Those interested in applying for a Habitat home must meet the following criteria in order to participate with the program.
1st (and MOST important) interested parties MUST live in substandard conditions. i.e. physical conditions of the home (rotting foundation, dry-rot, health and safety hazards), excessive rent (50% + of your income goes to rent) or excessive energy bills due to lack of insulation and other defects. Also, another possible qualification is overcrowding and temporary housing (you're crashing on someone's couch)
2nd Your total family income must fall between 30% and 60% of the Federal Median Income. These guidelines are a) determined by family size, b) determined by the Federal Government c) change yearly and d) vary from region to region.
3rd Each family must volunteer 500 hours of "Sweat Equity" with Habitat/RV after being selected and before you move in. Each adult is required 200 hours of service.
4th Must be a Jackson County resident for one year.
No construction knowledge is necessary; we will train you AND there are other volunteer opportunities available as well, like volunteering at our ReStore and on many committees.
After the family moves in, they begin to repay a 30-year no-interest loan.

Each adult in the family interested in applying MUST attend a HOUSING orientation. You will be given an application at that time and MUST sign up for an Application Day appointment for one month later. If you miss your appointment, then you have been disqualified for that application process.
WHAT TO DO
Call or e-mail the office with your current mailing address. We will mail you an announcement when the next HOUSING orientation is scheduled. IF YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION CHANGES, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU CALL US WITH THE NEW INFORMATION! The Post Office will NOT forward the invitation. IF YOU MISS THE ORIENTATION, YOU CANNOT APPLY.
